Product Certifications

Asahi America has obtained various certifications and approval ratings for numerous products. These achievements are outlined below with a brief explanation of the certification and the applicable Asahi America products.
 

  •  UL      

 

UL Approval

The UL Mark, provided by Underwriters Laboratories, is the most widely recognized symbol in the US for electrical devices.  Products bearing the UL mark indicate that a manufacturer has taken the initiative to have a technically competent third party testing facility perform a variety of product safety tests according to recognized standards.  Manufacturers voluntarily submit their devices to a team of engineers who are specialists in product safety standards at one of the UL facilities.   Products bearing the UL mark have undergone this testing process and have achieved the mark according to a particular UL standard.  Periodic on-site checks performed by UL, assure that a manufacturer maintains a high level of quality and performance standards.  For the consumer, the mark provides a level of confidence, demonstrating that the products have been tested and comply with all relevant safety standards in accordance with the use of that particular product.

Asahi/America, Inc. has achieved the UL mark for Industrial Control Equipment with regards to standard UL 508 for our Series 92 and Series 94 115 Vac and 220 Vac electric actuators.

RoHS

The RoHS Directive, in effect July 1, 2006, applies to electrical and electronic equipment sold to the member nations of the European Union (EU). The intent of this Directive is to eliminate the following hazardous substances from electric/electronic equipment components:

Hg - Mercury, Cd - Cadmium, Pb - Lead, CrVI(Cr+6) - Hexalevent Chromium, PBDE - Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers, PBB - Polybrominated Biphenyls

The following Asahi America, Inc. products comply with this directive:

  • Extra Limit Switches
  • 2-Wire Control
  • Mechanical Brake
  • Heater and Thermostat
  • Cycle Length Control (CLC)

As our current inventory levels for non-compliant electrical/electronic components are depleted and replaced with RoHS Compliant components (FIFO Inventory), we will be expanding this list of products that comply with the RoHS Directive.

NSF-61 Certification

Asahi/America has received NSF (National Sanitation Foundation)-61 certification on nine different valve models including the Quarter-Bloc Ball Valve, Type 21 Ball Valve, Type 23 Multiport Valve, Gate Valves and Sediment Strainers.

NSF-61 certification states that "Asahi/America's valves have been certified to be used in drinking water applications with little or no health effects". This means you can now offer Asahi/America Valves into applications requiring NSF-61 standards.

Asahi/America believes we offer the widest range of valves that have received NSF-61 certification.
